[Action, November 30]
Why exactly Loki saw fit to make a nuisance of himself after Thor gave his word to let him be, he did not understand- no. He understood well enough. It was as it ever had been. Poking at him to force a reaction.
But acting rashly was what put him in this position in the first place, he would not lose his temper a second time. Especially after something so tender came from his formerly cold and secluded brother's lips.
"Your curls are equally becoming, miss."
Re: [Action, November 30]
And thus did it occur that Loki gave Thor a brotherly smack on the butt. And promptly jumped several feet away so Thor could yell at the illusion he left behind.
"I'll be certain to tell my lady you think she has good taste."
[Action, November 30]
And thus did it occur that Thor's temper shattered like so much glass for a second time in this shoppe. He had tried to hold it. He truly did.
But never was there anyone that knew his buttons so well as his younger brother. he was twisting to lunge at the illusion even as Loki spoke, even as he knew it to be false, even as he knew he would crash into a second table of glass and glitter- all that escaped him was a mighty bellow-
"LOKI!"

The snowglobe shattered in his hand. He paid no attention to the slashes the pieces of glass left in his palm and fingers; they would heal quickly enough.
What he was going to do to Thor most certainly wouldn't--

...there would be a problem because why did there ever need to be a reason for there to be a problem? She headed out to the front of the shop to find two people who claimed not to be brothers (at least on one side) certainly looking as though they were about to start fighting like ones.
She stood framed in the doorway and propped one hand on her hip, her gaze darting between Loki and Thor. Gawd, they were tall. And also apparently furious. "What in the heck is goin' on out here?"

A childhood promise to slay all frost giants to protect his home realm subverted by the harsh reality they now lived in.
But Rogue's voice cut through that red hazed viciousness. He gave his word to let Loki be. He meant to do so. With one last glower in Loki's direction Thor dusted his hands off on his apron and turned his eyes back to the shattered glass and finery.

"His place is wherever he damn well pleases. This ain't Asgard. If you have a problem because of somethin' he did that's one thing, but sayin' he doesn't know his place is another."

...that felt strangely good. Very good, actually. Very, very good. And unexpected. It summarily derailed the worst of his temper.
Idly, he picked a shard of glass from his hand and flicked it onto the floor. Bright drops of blood pattered down around it. He still watched Thor with particular intensity; he'd better not lay a finger on Rogue, or--
Or, well, he'd let Rogue forcibly feed Thor a thick slice of humble pie, probably. That would be a better revenge than anything Loki could potentially do.

Not entirely.
And yet Rogue had cut the very beginnings of something that was certain to be vicious and icy from him by taking her stance. Defending him. Were he not so frustrated Thor would find it more admirable.
Actually.
he found it admirable even while being frustrated.
"His place is outside arm's reach. I have agreed to let him be and while expecting him to honor that in turn is but a fool's dream I should thank him not to lay a hand upon my person while I am attempting to work."

Her gaze went to Loki first and sharpened on the blood in his hand before taking in the remnants of the snow globe at his feet and the trashed table.
"What happened?"
Either of you can feel free to chime in at any point right now.

He idly picked at another shard of glass, though he kept his gaze fixed on Rogue. "I came here to look for my lady. I asked the fathead over there where you might be. Things got a bit rude. I gave him a mocking little pat on the butt before departing, since he seemed concerned that he wasn't curvy enough to be properly mistaken for a lady."

No lie needed to be unwound.
Loki had been truthful.
"...the truth." More or less. He looked from Loki to Rogue and back again, puzzled. "Is he always this honest with you?"
For Thor was under no misconception that Loki was so honest on his behalf.

"He is standin' right there," Rogue said, pointing in Loki's direction while looking at Thor. "Ask him."
The fact that several times already in this conversation Thor had been talking to her as if Loki wasn't even there was another source of irritation. Perhaps she didn't fully understand the scope of Thor's promise to leave Loki alone.
...There was something about the way that Thor was looking at her right now, though, that tugged at her even in the middle of her irritation - he seemed so genuinely perplexed and almost hopeful. It was strange.
"And that's all that started all this? Seriously?" the note of slightly horrified skepticism was hard to miss, as if she couldn't believe it was over something so small.

It. Did not fit. And yet, for this man, it did.

He smiled nastily. "And a good thing for that lady too. Better that than to have one son throw the other into the maw of a black hole."
no subject
But words.
"Now you lie- I did not throw you."
He had words enough, and the truth cut itself from him in an uncharacteristically quiet murmur. They cracked across the space between them, thick with a multitude of unspoken emotion.
"You let go."

She would wait and see if that got their attention, got them to stop, before taking whatever action she needed to take after that. Rogue only hoped she could figure out what that was.

The whistle was strange enough to pull his attention from the potential threat to Rogue. He had nothing to say, but he did pay her mind.
